<WACS…WASTE CUT /CRUSH SPINNING>
These socks are made from "WACS," a yarn made by cutting, pulping, and spinning fiber scraps collected from sock factories in Nara Prefecture, one of Japan's leading sock production areas. The socks are not dyed, but instead use colors derived from the scraps.
This is an environmentally friendly product, with scraps produced when sewing the toes being sewn into rings that act as hooks, and recycled paper used to wrap the bands.

[Background material]
Nara Prefecture accounts for approximately 60% of sock production in Japan, producing 75 million pairs per year.
The textile scraps generated during this process are discarded, accounting for approximately 5% of the socks produced.
We are working to reduce waste and CO2 emissions by not dyeing fabrics during the production process.
